Mar 2026Joseph Medcalf Funerals, particularly Michelle Fisher and her team, were outstanding and very professional in coordinating the funeral for my late husband. The funeral was on par with a State Funeral and held at St Mary's Cathedral in Sydney. The attention to detail and genuine compassion, coupled with personal service and utmost in delivery, exceeded all expectation. From liaison with government agencies to flowers, preparation and printing of booklets, on the ground on the day direction and ease of communication and follow up. Feedback from my friends included "that was the best funeral I've ever attended" (or seen, for those on the livestream). Nov 2025Joseph Medcalf Funerals and in particular Michelle Fisher were nothing short of exceptionally understanding, thoughtful and professional. We rang multiple Funeral Service companies and as soon as we heard Michelle, we knew we were in the right place. From start to finish, Michelle made every effort to make the process as smooth and pain-free as possible. We had added complications as we had to fly with our loved one's ashes and Michelle helped us with that, on top of expediting everything to meet our stressful time restrictions. Everything was transparent and there were no hidden costs. The service was smooth, in a lovely bright room with a water feature. The livestream worked wonderfully and we have been able to save the recording ourselves. I would strongly recommend Joseph Medcalf Funerals, and Michelle will look after you. Dec 2025We contacted Joseph Medcalf Funeral Services, Matraville, on the Sunday morning that my grandfather passed away. Having a 24/7, 365 day phone service available, was a great help especially as it was a weekend and we ourselves felt lost and numb. A member of the team came to collect my grandfather's body that same afternoon, and would have been there even earlier had we not had relatives who needed to travel back from Canberra before the body could be transferred to the funeral home. He was so comforting, compassionate, supportive and the body retrieval process was done so respectfully. Our family was able to make an appointment with Michelle Fisher and the JM team for the following afternoon, where all funeral arrangements were made and details confirmed. Being able to give our beloved dad, grandfather and great grandfather a beautiful send off within 9 days, brought our family some closure and comfort especially in the lead up to Christmas. Michelle was very thorough with her contact in the days leading up to the funeral, clearly communicating requests for any information she needed or any updates she had, even phoning just to check in on my mum and our family, to see if we needed anything. On the afternoon of my grandfather's private viewing, Michelle gently walked my parents and aunty & uncle in first so they could see how my grandfather looked, knowing that not everyone is comfortable with seeing deceased bodies, especially given my 2.5 year old son and niece were with

Sept 2025Joseph Medcalf's staff were absolutely wonderful when our loved one passed away recently. Our funeral arranger was always upfront about our options, transparent about costs and made the time to check on how we were going throughout the process. All the staff we dealt with were kind, efficient and informative so that we were able to proceed with complete confidence and without any stress as to the funeral arrangements and day of the service. They work as a terrific informed team so were always able to help if we had any queries and managed every detail of our family member's passing from our first phone call to make arrangements, to the day of the funeral, and coordination of the Death Certificate. They demonstrated complete professionalism in every step. Joseph Medcalfs guided us through the most difficult time of our lives with compassion and certainty. We are so grateful and we would thoroughly recommend them in every aspect of their business.

July 2021We cannot thank the beautiful staff at Joseph Medcalf enough. From beginning right to the following day after my brother's funeral, the staff made the whole process smooth and easy to handle. Exactly what you need when grieving. All our needs were met, they went above and beyond to accommodate us and our requirements for Mitchell's send off. We were unlucky to have to organise a funeral during Covid restrictions, only being allowed 10 mourners, meaning we had to live stream the ceremony. We used their gorgeous chapel and the streaming quality was exceptional. Thank you once again to all the staff, your kindness and compassion was appreciated by myself and our family. We will highly recommend your services to anyone asking us for recommendations!
