I used Tobins Funeral services for my sons burial in November. It took two long weeks to cremate my son, grieving with little communication from the funeral home, police or anybody on how the process works. I was told the coroner was out of town. I live out of the country and was trying to put some closure behind me. I had a list of items I wanted taken care of and was promised by Tobins staff that it would be done. First and foremost was a death certificate, without it you can't do anything. I was promised an interim certificate after the final viewing. I recieved nothing except the bureacratic line of the coroner was out of town and it would take 6 to 18 months to recieve the death certificate and his possesions that were taken and not given back, no inventory of items taken..Little did I not know all of the extra paperwork and money that was involved from the government that I was not informed of by Tobins or the coroners office. What kind of heartless group of people work in the coroners office that make people who are grieving wait for whatever junk you have to do. If this is how the system works, i'm just a workker bee and you do as I say. thats just sad. I have a news flash for the coroners office too, hire more people.Three months down the road with no communication from the police or coroners office and I'm ready to lose what's left of my mind. Sorry excuses and bull do not make a right. My advice to Tobin's, don't make promises you can't keep. You have made my life

The team at Tobin Brothers is exceptional and very professional. They ‘met’ online since everyone was either overseas or in another state, to provide an overview & advice. Cameron who worked with us, took time to address questions with us personally when we popped by. He continued to work with us till after the cremation. They are so respectful & comforting. Kudos to a lady at Fyshwick centre when I stopped by for viewing with my son. She showed so much empathy. I was very touched. Highly recommended this family business!

If I had the misfortune to require funeral services in the near future, I would run away quickly from Tobin Brothers. I am not posting this review with my real name for privacy reasons, however it is a real review. I don't think there's too much repeat business in the funeral industry but if I ever have to go through another one for a dear family member, I would never use Tobin Bros again. Our immediate contacts at Kingston were nice enough and I imagine they were working within the company's processes but my experience was not a good one. Once all the logistics were locked in and deposit paid, the business was done. The faces we had come to know in the lead up to our planning weren't there at our service - we had two strangers. I understand that may not be the role of our initial contacts, however this was not advised prior, nor was it expected so the staff at the chapel were in effect complete strangers. Then when it came to dealing with the crematorium, there was absolutely no handover process, care or concern about what happened next. In Canberra, everything is managed by the publicly-owned crematorium however there was no explanation of this by Tobin - presumably because there's no profit in it for them. I believe Tobin runs crematoria in other states - at a profit. In fact, I copied our rep into emails to the Crematorium and did not even receive a courtesy reply. The only follow up was a bog standard after 'sales' email. Not happy at all. Use a smaller, family ow
