From the moment Shannon rang and said, “I have your Mum here in our care and we are going to sit down with a cup of tea and have a chat,” we knew we were in exactly the right place. Shannon went above and beyond to guide us through every step of farewelling our Mum with such care, warmth, and compassion. She recognised the trauma our family had been through and helped us create gentle and loving memories instead. She took the time to truly understand who Mum was and then helped us create a funeral that celebrated her life with real meaning. She rang me at 6pm one night and said, “I think your mum wants to come home,” and then made that happen, bringing Mum home on the way to the funeral so she could be in her garden one last time. It meant everything to us when Shannon told us we were going to hold Mum’s hand the whole way through. Shannon gently guided our family through the viewing process, even though we were reluctant at first. Her guidance allowed us to grieve privately, which made the funeral day itself feel far less overwhelming. She made the process accessible to our whole family and reassured us that it was okay to decide what felt right on the day. She even met us on a Sunday afternoon so our travelling family could participate. She helped us laugh and cry, and we will be forever grateful.
