About Huon Funerals
Huon Funerals was founded in 1977 by David Thomasson, who previously had a background in French polishing. The business was sold to Millingtons Funerals in the late 1980’s. David continued serving the Huon community and worked tirelessly for Huon Funerals until health issues saw him retire in late 2017. He maintained a passionate interest in Huon Funerals and continued to reside on premises until his death in May 2019. Huon Funerals, still managed and supported by Millingtons, is now part of a network of funeral homes, cremation facilities and cemeteries owned by Propel Funeral Partners, which extends to all states of Australia, the Australian Capital Territory and New Zealand. Listed on the Australian Securities Exchange, Propel Funeral Partners is one of the largest providers of funeral and related services in Australia and New Zealand.

Aug 2020Very disappointing . We had my fathers funeral last week. The day before they rang my sister to inquire about a viewing of my mother . She told them that my mother was alive & well & that it was my father who had passed. That was the first mistake. We turned up at the chapel & noticed that the coffin sat bare at the altar with no flowers. When we asked the Huon funeral staff where the flowers that we purchased were, they didn't even realise that they were missing. As we are in covid times & given that we have family all around the world, we paid for a live streaming of the funeral. They emailed us a link a few days before the funeral which we forwarded to all our family & friends. At the time of the funeral, everyone clicked on the link only to watch the funeral of someone else, not my father. The satellite signal then dropped out (which we were told was quite common in that town) & we found out later that there was a significant portion of the funeral that was missing (during the drop out). When we asked if there was a complete video of the service, we were told that the live stream & any recordings were one in the same. You would think that given that they are aware that the satellite signal can drop out, that they would record the entire service on a second device so that we at least, have a full recording that we can email to family & friends at a later date. They were apologetic but this is something that can't be undone. This is their everyday job & the type of job that
