How we compile our data and pricing

Our directory is built from published sources. We compile each listing from publicly available information, including a provider's own website, public business registrations such as the Australian Business Register, listed contact details and addresses, and public review platforms. Every listing is reviewed by our editorial team before it is published.

We aim to cover funeral directors right across Australia, in capital cities and regional towns alike, not only the providers with the largest marketing budgets. A listing on Funerals Direct does not imply any commercial relationship with the provider.

Pricing on Funerals Direct is presented as indicative ranges drawn from published listings. Where a provider publishes a price, we show it and link to the source. Where a provider does not publish pricing, we do not estimate or invent a figure for that business.

Our state and national medians, including the figures in the Australian Funeral Price Index, are compiled from providers who publish pricing. They are indicative starting points, not quotes. Package inclusions vary between providers at the same headline price, and prices change regularly, so figures should be treated as a guide and confirmed directly with the provider. The pricing data is reviewed and refreshed periodically.

We work to keep listings accurate and up to date, and we update records as new public information becomes available. Because details can change, the most reliable source is always the provider directly, so we encourage families to confirm services, availability, and pricing before making arrangements.

Funerals Direct is independent. There is no pay-to-rank for families: a provider cannot pay to rank higher in our results. Some funeral directors pay for a featured placement, which is clearly labelled as a sponsored listing and is held to the same editorial review as every other listing. Featured placement never changes the order of rating, distance, or other sorted results.

Families never pay anything to use the directory or to request a quote. Quote requests are routed only to the provider a family chooses to contact.
